This is Twitter’s Button Resource Page

Of course, there’s the standard ‘add to any’ and that sort of thing, but if you want some quick basic twitter function you can grab the buttons right there off of twitter’s own page.  You of course have to have a twitter account to do so.

It’s very simple to use.  You juse choose the twitter button type you’d like.  Input the URL you want to be tweeted.  That can be specified OR you can just leave it as “the existing URL”.  Leaving it as the existing URL will dynamically update depending on whatever page your site visitor happens to be on.

Now once you’ve setup everything how you’d like to work on your webite, then you can just grab the HTML code right there under the “Preview” section, and you just paste it on your site.  This could be in a top toolbar area, your sidebar or on a specific page itself.

Lots of people want to be online, but don’t necessarily know or think they need to have a blog.  My first recommendation to people who are looking at a long term income strategy when they ask me ” Do I need a blog?  How to create a website?”  Is yes you absolutely need a blog and here’s how you create a website – and I give them the link to my free “How To Create A Website Course.

As to the actual WHY of having a blog or website

Here’s  quick video I cut to discuss the reasons you do want a blog or website:

A website online is your residual busy body.  It’s your little assistant that’s working for you 24/7.  The amazing thing is – it never stops working.  One month, two months, a year, three years AFTER you generate a post or a new webpage – this content, this effort is still working for you!

That’s is how a website you create is a true source of residual income and residual wealth for you.

IF you doing the following things, as discussed in my free website creation course:

1. Do your keyword research
2. Re-purpose your content
3. Focus on generating relevant and high ranking back links
4. Make sure you webpages maintain a valid offer (product “buy”, affiliate link, etc)

These components are key to not only getting found online, but to having a website that actually offers something to the visitors which will find your webpages, so you can generate income.  You can have the best and most trafficked site online – but if you don’t have something to offer to your visitors to buy – then you will not generate any income from it.

Does this mean you have to sell something on every page of your blog?

No.  In fact you should not have a “buy now” mentality for every blog post.  You do want to offer free value and useful information without always having a buy it now mentally.  However, having relevant offers in your sidebars and also through your email marketing is crucial to earning an income from all your efforts.

Do I need To Create A Website That is Self-hosted

My opinion is that yes you need to have a self-hosted website.  Many options are online now for Web 2.0 sites, such as WordPress.com and a few others.  But if you don’t own your own content and make permalinks for your content, you will have to do re-directs and so many other things to ensure that your webpages are found and don’t throw 301 erros for visitors.

A few really good options is to have your website hosting through a company that offers the great benefits of being on the same server as many other high-ranking sites in the shared environment.  One that I really like is GVO – Pure Leverage.  When you host your site there, you also get an autoresponder and so many other income tools such as lead capture pages and the ability to resale products from them – all in one place.

The math is really simple. In the video Patricia Sweeney explains how to utilize your email lists to promote great affiliate products and how using 100% pure profits is the easy way to calculate profit margin for you today.

The gross profit margin is a measurement of a company’s manufacturing and distribution efficiency during the production process. The gross profit tells an investor the percentage of revenue / sales left after subtracting the cost of goods sold. A company that boasts a higher gross profit margin than its competitors and industry is more efficient.

When talking about E-Products and any type of E-Goods, the profit margins can really sky-rocket.  When calculating your profit margin for E-Goods you should take the amount of money it costs you – in development and advertising – and subtract that from the total gross sales.  If you have direct costs related to this particular product such as overhead (rent, utilities, insurance, etc) if you’re running an office or have a real business setup, then you should deduct these from your profit as well.

To calculate gross profit margin, use this formula: Gross Profit ÷ Total Revenue

To simply determine how much cash you made on a specific product – Net Profit – then just do this;

Gross Sales of said product – Actual Expenses = Net Profit.

Now to calculate the profit margin: Net Profit  ÷ Gross Sales Total

How to maximize your profit margins

If you’re seen any of my other videos, then you know that I really enjoy affiliate products.  There’s not support, there no product creation.  It’s something anyone can jump into and begin making money from day one if you know how to market something online.

So how do those ‘internet guys’ send one email to a list of 12,000 people and make tens of thousands of dollars?

Simple – they sell an E-Product that they own.

There is not packing and shipping.  There is no more creation/manufacturing overhead.  Once all their product creation is behind them, once they recoup those expenses, then every single sale after that point is 100% pure profit.

Do you think you will have your very own product to sell anytime soon?

If you’re new to “online income generation” then the answer to that question is probably no.  That’s because not only do you have to know something other people want to know (have added value) but you’ve got to know how to:

1) create a product

2) get it online for E-Access

3) know how to launch it

Do You Really Want to Build Your Own Website Right Now?

Before you spend the next week or so setting up a new website for yourself, please pause to ask yourself if you really want to build your own website right now?  I can guarantee you – you will spend several weeks, maybe even several months, “tweaking” your site once I show you how to set it up.

This is not a profitable task.  It is a housekeeping task.  Income generation through blogging is a long term strategy.

Having your own site should definitely be part of your long term online income plan, but if you are JUST starting out I recommend you start somewhere a little more simple that will allow you to take action now to see income generation.  If you don’t – you might just burn out of the process beofre you ever see any real results because again, blogging is a long term strategy.  It takes a while to rank you blog and post.  Your page rank / site rank will take a while to gain any traction and the age of your domain plays a big part in that – so if you’re new there isn’t any super duper shortcut to fix it.  Yo ujust have to write great content and make sure it’s optimized, optimized and optimized some wmore. (we’ll take about this in the course).

So if you want Right-Now-Money I recommend you learn how to earn your first dollar online with an affiliate program and then build your site.  Having some cha-ching in your pocket from effectively marekting something will go a long way to keeping your from giving up on this “online thing”.

So, just remember, you do not have to wait to get a website up and running before you can dig in and get your online business going   There are a lot of options for your.  My favorite options is beginning with a Facebook Fanpage.

But if you determined to have a site now instead of later – or you’ve already been doing work online and you’re ready to build you blog as part of your online business plan – then let’s get started!

These are the basics you need to know when setting up a website.  We will be building your own website on a wordpress platform.  This will allow you to create a traditional looking website WITH a blog built into it or a standard front page blogging website.

Of course there are about a gazillion different customization you can do – and while we won’t be getting into that too deeply – I’ll show you a few quick tricks.

Why are you saying website / blog like it’s the same thing?

The simple fact is – if you want to be online in today’s internet environment - you need the super responsive and dynamic content type that comes with a blog.  You need to be updating you website with new posts at least a few times a week.  This pings the little webots to come take a look at your site. And if you didn’t already guess – Yes, that is important ; )  So when I say create your own website or setup a blog – I am talking about the same thing.  The only different would be if you are doing a strictly e-commerce site.  I still recommend you only do that with a shop solution that allows you to incorporate your blog within your main domain and not have to push it off to a subdomain.

The main costs associated with making your own blog

1) Hosting ( 60-150 per year)

2) Buy a domain ( 5-15 usd per year)

3) Purchase a custom theme (if you choose to, but you don’t have to – $30 – $300 one time cost)

I will walk you through what each of these items are, where to get them and how you install them.  Good thing for you, the platform itself – WordPress – is a “open source” software.  So that means it’s free!

I know that a lot of people are anxious to earn money online, well without getting your offer in front of people and connecting with those folks via email marketing (via the use of capture pages) then really….you’re not being an effective online marketer.

The best way to leverage the internet and guarantee success for your online venture is to ensure you have online lead generation.  You do not need to just buy leads from some lead generation company.  NO, you need to generate your own leads online.

Are you currently using lead capture pages?

If not, you need to be!  Building a list and marketing to those list by offering free useful information in the form of email is what the Gurus do!

Why do you have bad habits? How can you create good habits? Here’s a quick overview of the science behind the power of habit and how our brains are literally wired to do what we do and why we do what we do…

3. Reward

Repeating of this cycle makes your brain develop an actual intense craving for the reward at the end.  So much so, that your brain literally takes that routine and carves a place for it inside your brain and stores it as an instinctual behavior, one your brain doesn’t LET you think about it.  So, now you know why it’s so dang hard to not pick up the back of chips when you walk by the counter and they are sitting there!

But how do you change the bad behavior or create better behavior if it’s now become instinctual?

I use this training to work with my one-on-one coaching and my amazing team.  When you first get into being an entrepreneur the hardest thing we must overcome is ourselves – mentally.  You’ve got to literally get rid of your bad habits of procrastination and time wasting (any others too maybe) and implement and learn brand new patterns of behaviors.  You must create a routine with new positive, business building behaviors.  Period. End of story.

Without this part in place guys – it just simply doesn’t work.

So if you watched the video, the simple explanation is to not just stop everything, but retrain your brain with a variety of new cues/routines/rewards.  Take a hard look at what you’re doing on a daily basis.  What are your actions and routines?  Now… why do you do what you do?  Can you pinpoint where is the cue that triggers the automatic routine of ineffective behavior?

That’s the first step.  Then you can figure out how to tweak the patterns and routines.  But focus on the individual parts of the cycle.  Remember – your brain cannot differentiate between a Good habit or a bad habit.  You have to analyze yourself and pinpoint the cues/routines/rewards that are causing the bad behaviors to take hold.

Recommended reading: “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and the book mentioned in the video “The Power of Habit : Why We Do What We Do” by Charles Duhigg

Both of these books are really great.  In Charles Duhigg’s book, he really goes into the hard science behind it and offers a ton of real life and scientific studies as examples.  For me, it made it a lot easier to grasp the process and how you might be able to better tweak your own habits.  Once you can do that, you’ll be strengthening that willpower muscle – then you get to the fun stuff and can start emulating the habits of highly successful people.  That’s were the other books comes in : )
